Zinc Testing

Zinc Test

Zinc is an essential micro-mineral found in all organs, tissues and body fluids. It is required in the activity of several hundred enzyme systems of the body. Zinc deficiencies are often seen in the following situations:
  • growth and developmental retardation
  • skeletal abnormalities
  • delayed sexual maturation
  • defective collagen synthesis
  • skin rashes/dermatitis
  • poor wound healing
  • chronic and severe diarrhoea
  • immune system deficiencies
  • impaired taste sensation
  • impaired smell sensation
  • night blindness
  • behavioural disturbances, depression
  • corneal problems
  • chronic infections
  • alopecia (hair loss)
  • impaired protein synthesis
  • problems with testosterone and sperm permeability
The zinc test involves taking 10mls of liquid zinc which is held in the mouth for about 10 seconds. Lack of sensitivity to the taste will indicate deficiencies.

This test is included FREE in the naturopathic consultation.
