What treatments are available?
Osteopaths can assist with this condition by treating the spinal section that innervates the bowels, working viscerally and balancing the autonomic nervous system.

Acupuncture affects the efficiency of each individual component (eg. rectum, large and small intestine, stomach, spleen) in the gastro-intestinal tract by improving the flow and reducing blockages in their respective energy meridian.

Chinese Herbal Medicine can help to modulate the speed of the bowels movement, the movement of water in and out of the bowel wall, and to tone the whole digestive tract. Treatment is always individualised to the patient.

Naturopathic treatment of IBS uses aims to reduce stress, improve bowel microflora status, assess for food sensitivities and reduce spasm and inflammation in the large intestine.

We recommend that you book an appointment with Mei or Alison for management of IBS. If there is any need for treatments from other practitioners they will refer you accordingly.
